13.1 Create an automation
00:00:05:24 - 00:00:20:28
Today we're exploring one of our most exciting features SwiftFox Automations. In this tutorial, we'll be specifically focusing on how to create automations from scratch, so you can make SwiftFox keep working even while you're sleeping.
00:00:20:49 - 00:00:29:25
Our session will cover creating a trigger, setting in action, and publishing your automation. So let's get started!
00:00:33:20 - 00:00:47:30
SwiftFox Automations can be accessed by selecting automations from the menu. The home page shows you all your current automations to create a new one, select Create Automation.
00:00:47:30 - 00:00:59:00
This is the automations canvas where you build out your automation journey. First up, let's give our automation a name, which you can do by selecting name. This automation.
00:00:59:00 - 00:01:03:20
To get our first automation underway, select Trigger Automation.
00:01:03:20 - 00:01:16:29
Triggers are the name given to the act that kick starts and automation. For example, if you want to send an automatic email to someone who fills out a form. The act of filling the form will trigger the automation to start.
00:01:16:29 - 00:01:25:00
In the drawer, you can see the list of available triggers and this list will continue to grow, so keep checking back to see what has been recently released.
00:01:25:00 - 00:01:30:31
Sticking to our earlier example, let's create an automation that starts when someone fills out a form.
00:01:30:31 - 00:01:46:31
select, a form is filled out. And then next. Now select which of your existing forms you want the trigger to listen to. In this example, we'll select our Contact us form. Then select Add trigger. Now the trigger has been set
00:01:50:06 - 00:01:55:01
With our trigger set. We now need to add an action to happen when the form is filled in.
00:01:55:01 - 00:01:57:32
So, select Add an action.
00:01:57:32 - 00:02:01:28
Actions are what happens after your automation has been triggered to run.
00:02:01:28 - 00:02:05:03
In this draw, you can see the list of available actions.
00:02:05:03 - 00:02:10:14
This list also always continues to grow, so keep checking back for more actions.
00:02:10:14 - 00:02:15:10
Let's select our action as an email is sent and select next.
00:02:15:10 - 00:02:19:39
On this screen we can build out what this email is going to look like and where it will go.
00:02:19:39 - 00:02:23:06
Our first option is who will be the target of this email.
00:02:23:06 - 00:02:31:08
Now, I would like everyone who fills out my contact form to get an instant follow up email to let them know that someone will be in touch shortly.
00:02:31:08 - 00:02:40:15
So I will set the target to the contact who filled out the form. This will be sent from our support team with the subject: Thanks for reaching out.
00:02:40:15 - 00:02:48:29
For the email body, we can either write a plain text email. Open up our full email builder to take advantage of its rich features.
00:02:48:29 - 00:02:51:28
Or use one of your own pre-saved templates.
00:02:51:28 - 00:02:57:25
We already have a template for this. So we'll use that and select Add Action.
00:03:01:00 - 00:03:06:34
Now we've created our very first automation. An email will be sent when a form is filled out.
00:03:06:34 - 00:03:09:31
The final step is making your automation live.
00:03:09:31 - 00:03:12:16
To do this, simply click Publish.
00:03:12:16 - 00:03:20:02
All done! Now you will return to our automations table and see that your automation has its status set to on.
00:03:20:02 - 00:03:31:19
To edit or unpublished the automation, select the three dot menu and choose either Edit or Unpublish. You can also rename or delete your automation here too.
00:03:31:23 - 00:03:36:17
Now you know how to create automations. So go on SwiftFox for work!
